Capt. Malhotra is our Head (Safety and Quality) and Sr. General Manager-Marine Operations. In that capacity, he oversees all activities relating to International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), International Safety Management Code( ISM ) and  International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS), covering  quality / safety / environmental  issues and physical security of the vessels.  He is overall in charge of quality assurance and is the Designated Person ashore, under the provisions of ISM Code  for the entire Varun fleet.

Capt. Malhotra passed out from the University of  Mumbai and started his sea career in 1977. He obtained his Second Mates Foreign Going Certificate from LBS Nautical College, Mumbai in 1981. He gained sea experience on general cargo vessels, container ships, OBO’s, Oil tankers  and Gas Carriers. He completed his Master’s Class1 Certificate of Competency from The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1991. After sailing as Master on Gas Carriers for five years with V. Ships, he continued with them on shore in the  Marine, Safety & Training department., in their Mumbai office. In July, 2001 he was transferred to V. Ships, Cyprus as Marine Safety & Quality  Manager. In 2004, he joined Hanseatic Shipping Company Limited as Quality Management Services Manager in Limassol, Cyprus. He was with Hanseatic for two years, before joining our company in August, 2006.
