LPG Sector
Propane and butane are generally referred to as LPG, liquefied petroleum gas. Propane and butane are liquefied by compressing and cooling them. LPG is transported in LPG carriers which may be pressurised and/or refrigerated.

In June 2007 the company acquired a Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) with cargo carrying capacity of 76,644 cbm. This is the largest LPG carrier in Indian fleet. We are the first Indian shipping Company to acquire a VLGC.

We believe our Indian LPG carrier fleet of 11 is the largest in India in terms of both fleet-size and cargo carrying capacity. It forms around 80% (in dwt terms) of the aggregate cargo carrying capacity of LPG carriers operating under the Indian flag.

As on date, the aggregate cargo carrying capacity of our fleet of 11 LPG carriers is 342,416 dwt (414,622 m3).

Currently, 4 of our LPG carriers are offered on voyage charter and 7 are offered on time charter.

Offshore

In the offshore sector, we offer AHTSs for charter to oil and gas companies operating offshore, for their exploration, production and development of oil and natural gas.  Our AHTSs are used during different phases of offshore operations.  The functions they perform include towing and mooring oil rigs and platforms to required locations where oil and natural gas exploration or production is carried out, and transporting crew, cargo and supplies (including provisions).  Our principal market is in India and two of our AHTSs are employed on long-term time charters with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, an Indian PSU. The Company, with a view to expand its asset base in the oil and gas exploration and production industry, also acquired two modern and highly sophisticated 2001 built Anchor Handling Towing and Supply (AHTS) vessels viz. Subhiksha and Sudaksha in January, 2007 and May, 2007 respectively. These vessels are the most powerful AHTS vessels with highest bollard pull under Indian flag. Both these vessels are currently employed on time charter with Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) for supporting their deep sea oil exploration and production activities in Krishna Godavari basin. In addition, they are also capable of operating in North Sea, Bay of Bengal and the Atlantic Ocean, off the coasts of Nigeria, Brazil and Mexico.
In addition to the above, the company has acquired another specialized AHTS vessel, Suvarna, which is used for deep sea oil exploration activities going on in the areas like North Sea, KG Basin and Atlantic Ocean, off the coasts of Nigeria, Brazil and Mexico. This vessel is the most powerful vessel under Indian flag.
